Who we are
Shimbiri (shimbiri.ai) is built and operated by Shimbiri AI Pty Ltd, Brisbane, Australia. Using the service means you agree to these terms. Questions go to [email protected].
The service
Shimbiri is an AI vessel-management platform: monitoring of connected boats, alerts, weather and voyage briefings, and messaging with an AI crew over channels like WhatsApp, SMS and email. What the service includes may change as we build it out.
Your account
Give us accurate information when you sign up and keep it current. Keep your credentials safe — you’re responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us at [email protected] if you think someone else has access.
Acceptable use
- Don’t use the service for anything unlawful.
- Don’t interfere with the service, probe or overload it, or try to access other vessels’ data or other people’s accounts.
- Don’t misrepresent who you are or which vessel you’re connected to.
Safety at sea
Shimbiri assists seamanship. It does not replace it. Alerts, briefings, forecasts and monitoring are aids to decision-making, built on data and models that can be wrong, late or unavailable. The skipper remains responsible for the vessel and its crew at all times, and the service must not be the sole basis for any safety-critical decision — navigation, weather routing, anchoring, or anything else where getting it wrong puts people or the boat at risk.
Messaging
Messages between you and the service travel over third-party providers — WhatsApp (Meta), SMS and email carriers. We don’t control those networks and can’t guarantee that any message, including an alert, is delivered or delivered on time. That’s one more reason the safety clause above matters.
Fees
The apps are free. The AI is metered — you pay for what you use, as set out on our pricing page or as otherwise agreed with Shimbiri. Hardware and hands-on services are quoted to your boat. No subscriptions, no lock-in.
Liability
To the extent Australian law permits, Shimbiri AI Pty Ltd isn’t liable for loss arising from your use of the service, including loss caused by inaccurate or unavailable data, alerts or forecasts. Nothing in these terms excludes the consumer guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law or any other rights you have that can’t be excluded.
Termination
You can stop using the service and close your account at any time by contacting [email protected]. We can suspend or close accounts that break these terms or put the service or other users at risk. Our Privacy Policy covers what happens to your data, including how to have it deleted.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Australia, and disputes belong to Australian courts.
Changes
If these terms change, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a new “last updated” date. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the new terms.
