Can my boat keep her own logbook?
Yes. Shimbiri writes the ship’s log for you while you are under way: position, course, wind and events on the hour and whenever something changes, grouped into passages.
Each day it also writes a daily report of where she has been, the wind, the depth, and how the batteries and tanks have changed. You can add your own entries and notes.
What it does
- Entries written automatically on the hour and on events
- Grouped into passages
- A daily report written by the boat
- Your own entries and notes, edited any time
The entries below are from Shimbiri’s own log, written by the boat.
Seen at sea
Lady Barron, 15 September 2026: the boat’s daily report recorded a lively 24 hours at anchor with gusts to 42 knots, about 3.8 m under the keel, and fresh water down 7% on the day. The next day’s report recorded her northbound toward Eden, the wind peaking at 35 knots, and the depth going from anchorage to open water. Nobody typed either of them.
What you need
Automatic entries need the Chief Engineer pack aboard for the boat’s position and instruments. Your own entries work from any phone or PC.
